Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology - Fall 2026

The School of Arts and Sciences at the American University in Dubai invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology to begin teaching in Fall 2026.

The successful candidate should have:

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related biological science from a Western-accredited institution at the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate courses. We are particularly interested in candidates capable of teaching Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, though we welcome applicants with expertise in related subfields (e.g., Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Metabolic Research, or Forensic Science).
  • Strong research background and evidence of scholarly productivity in their field of specialization.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and contribute to departmental curriculum development and interdisciplinary initiatives.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience integrating lab-based research, computational approaches, or fieldwork into the undergraduate curriculum.
  • Ability to teach a variety of foundational and specialized biology courses that align with departmental needs.

Applicants should have evidence of successful teaching experience or must demonstrate significant potential and promise of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate level. Additionally, candidates are expected to meet standards for professional scholarship and to assist in curriculum development and other service to the department, school, and community.

The compensation package for this position is competitive and is based on the expatriate model. In addition to a tax-exempt basic salary, it includes housing, annual two-way airfare, health/life insurance, professional memberships, conference attendance expenses, assistance with children's tuition, and other components.
