The School of Arts and Sciences at the American University in Dubai (AUD) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Cultural Studies at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, begin teaching in Spring-Fall 2027.

The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate teaching in Cultural Studies and related interdisciplinary fields while supporting the continued growth of the program through teaching, research, curriculum development, and service. We seek a candidate with a strong record of scholarly achievement, or clear potential to establish a productive research agenda, who can contribute to the University's commitment to academic excellence and intellectual engagement.

The successful candidate will:

• Teach undergraduate courses in Cultural Studies, World Cultures, Art History, and related areas, as appropriate.
• Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement of the Cultural Studies program.
• Maintain an active program of research and scholarly activity consistent with the mission of the University.
• Engage in scholarly publication, conference participation, and other forms of academic dissemination.
• Advise and mentor students in their academic and professional development.
• Participate in departmental, school, university, and community service activities.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives and collaborative projects across the University.

The successful candidate should have:

• A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree from an accredited institution in Cultural Studies, World Cultures, Humanities, Art History, or a closely related discipline.
• An earned doctorate from a Western-accredited institution by the date of appointment.
• Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching.
• Evidence of a strong research record or the potential to establish a productive research agenda.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a collegial and diverse academic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in interdisciplinary teaching and research.
• Evidence of scholarly publications, conference presentations, or externally funded research.

The compensation package for this position is competitive and is based on the expatriate model. Besides tax-exempt basic salary, it includes housing allowance, annual two-way airfare, health / life insurance, professional memberships, conference attendance expenses, assistance with children's tuition, and other components.
