The School of Arts and Sciences at the American University in Dubai invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics to begin teaching in Fall 2027.
The successful candidate should have:
- A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related mathematical field from an accredited university.
- A strong record of, or demonstrated potential for, effective undergraduate teaching and student mentoring across mathematics and its applications.
- A clear and productive research agenda, with evidence of peer-reviewed scholarly publications appropriate to career stage and potential for sustained research contributions and collaborative projects.
- Expertise in pure or applied mathematics, statistics, computational mathematics, mathematical modeling, or other relevant mathematical disciplines.
- The ability to contribute to curriculum innovation and interdisciplinary initiatives connecting mathematics with contemporary scientific and technological challenges.
- Research or teaching experience in emerging and interdisciplinary areas such as data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, scientific computing, or mathematical applications in other fields is particularly welcome.
- A commitment to student mentoring, academic advising, and university service is desirable.
Candidates will have evidence of successful teaching experience or must demonstrate significant potential and promise of teaching effectiveness and excellence at the undergraduate level. Candidates should be able to conduct research, publish papers in academic journals, and represent the university at conferences. Additionally, candidates are expected to meet standards for personal professional scholarship, and assist in student advising, curriculum development and other service to the department, school, and community.
The compensation package for this position is competitive and is based on the expatriate model. Besides tax-exempt basic salary, it includes housing, annual two-way airfare, health/life insurance, professional memberships, conference attendance expenses, assistance with children's tuition, and other components.
