The School of Business at the American University in Dubai is widely recognized by students and employers for its tradition of combining academic rigor with practical applications in teaching and research. It aims to provide "job-ready" graduates with a range of skills and professional knowledge that is desired by employers.
The School has three Departments: Management and Marketing, Economics, Finance, and Accounting, and Decision Sciences and General Business. These Departments offer a range of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The position of Associate Dean of the School of Business is a full‐time faculty appointment, within the School of Business. The initial assignment to this position will be for three (3) academic years. After completion of the initial assignment, the position is renewed annually. It is intended that the Associate Dean begin his/her responsibility by the Fall 2024 semester.
Essential Qualifications:
Earned doctorate from an accredited North American university, in a discipline that is represented in the School of Business. The Associate Dean must have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, research, and service, as well as significant work experience outside of academe. He/she must have experience in: curriculum development; program expansion; outcomes assessment and reporting for institutional effectiveness accreditation processes; student recruitment and retention; faculty recruitment, development and retention; as well as sound fiscal management.
Desired Additional Qualifications:
At least 10‐years of progressively responsible work experience, and academic accomplishments to justify appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
Excellent interpersonal skills, excellent leadership abilities, and an ability to think strategically, analytically, and creatively are essential attributes of a successful Associate Dean. Moreover, possessing an ability to work with multiple and diverse constituents is a must.
The compensation package for this position is competitive and is based on the expatriate model. The package includes tax-exempt base salary, housing, annual two-way airfare, contributory health/life insurance, professional memberships, conference attendance expenses, assistance with children’s tuition, and other components.
