Adjunct Instructor in Mathematics

The Department of International and Middle Eastern Studies in the School of Arts and Sciences, at the American University in Dubai, invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Instructor of Arabic to begin teaching in Fall 2024.

The responsibilities include teaching courses on Arabic Sociolinguistics (in English), Arabic for non-native speakers, and Arabic for Native speakers.


The successful candidate should have:

  • A Master’s degree in Arabic language, literature or closely related field from a western accredited institution of higher education.
  • At least three years of teaching experience at the university level with excellent teaching evaluations.
  • The necessary expertise to teach Arabic for non-native speakers, Arabic for native speakers, and Arabic sociolinguistics courses.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in professional English.
  • The ability to work effectively with students, faculty and staff who come from diverse multicultural and multiethnic backgrounds.

The candidate should be flexible to meet the university’s teaching demands if requested to offer courses in the morning, afternoon, and/or early evening.  

As a part-time position, candidates should be current residents of the UAE with a valid visa. The University is not able to provide visa sponsorship.
