Assistant/Associate Professor of Interior Design - Spring 2026
 

The Program of Interior Design invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate professor of Interior Design - to begin in Spring 2026.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • A completed Ph.D. in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or related field;
  • NCIDQ certification;
  • Understanding of the proprietary education system;
  • Previous college level teaching experience. Three years of teaching, facilitating, or instructing experience;
  • Previous professional experience in Interior Design or Interior Architecture;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Ability to work within a diverse student and faculty community;
  • Ability to teach both studio, digital design software and lecture courses in a CIDA accredited curriculum;
  • High level of digital proficiency with the ability to teach courses related to the most common software for Interior Design/Interior Architecture/Design, including Revit, Advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Building Information Modeling (BIM), Digital Design Illustration and rendering programs for design, as well as familiarity with Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR) applied to Interior Design;
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications to Interior Design;
  • Expertise in one or more of the following is highly valued: Acoustical, Lighting Design, Building Systems & Codes, Textiles for Interiors, Resources and Materials;
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in the reviewing, evaluating and writing of technical training manuals or development of curricula and supporting materials related to the higher education field;
  • Evidence of published Research in the field;
  • Undergone UAE Equivalency.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Familiarity with the American educational system;
  • Active in major discipline related professional organizations and societies;
  • Evidence of scholarship.

Candidates will have evidence of successful teaching experience or must demonstrate significant potential and promise of teaching effectiveness and excellence at the undergraduate level.  Additionally, candidates are expected to meet standards for personal professional scholarship, and assist in student advising, curriculum development and other service to the department, school, and community.

Candidates must have gone through the equivalency process with the Ministry of Education.

The compensation package for this position is competitive and is based on the expatriate model. Besides tax-exempt basic salary, it includes housing, annual two-way airfare, health / life insurance, professional memberships, conference attendance expenses, assistance with children's tuition, and other components.
